Meg Auchenbach, Children’s Author & Illustrator | Surface Pattern Designer
Meg Auchenbach is a children's book author and illustrator, pet portrait artist, and surface pattern designer. Meg has been drawing since she could hold a crayon, and was known for coloring on things she wasn't supposed to (like the family dog) with markers.
A former elementary art teacher turned published children's book author and illustrator, Meg specializes in whimsical animals, hand-lettering, and stylized florals, aiming to create art that inspires beauty, magical thoughts, and celebrates everyday wonders. She offers hand-painted pet portraits to capture the heart and soul of our furry companions and crafts picture books that inspire magical thoughts and wonder.
Meg works digitally as well as traditionally- using a mixed media approach of watercolor, gouache, and color pencil. Her work is largely influenced by nature, animals, magic, fairy tales, and all things vintage.
Meg is the author and illustrator of If You Are An Artist (Peter Pauper Press, 2025) and When Night Sleeps (Postwave, 2027) and lives in Eastern Pennsylvania with her husband, two young children, and their ever-growing pack of rescued pets.
